"Cafés" on the theme of Sciences and Mountain!

par otc

This summer, the Chamonix Town Hall is organising " cafés" on the theme of Science and the Mountains .

The idea for these cafés emerged from a networking project for scientists initiated by the Town hall.

The aim of these cafés or "aperitifs" is to mix conviviality with an understanding of the environment which surrounds us: the mountains...

This will be done through scientific themes such as climate change, the evolution of the glaciers, and biodiversity, as well as man and altitude...
They will be held most Sundays (20 and 27 July, 3, 10, 17 and 24 August) and on ... ...that should keep us busy for at least part of the summer...

So see you at the first Science and the Mountains café at "BDS", for those in the know, Monday 20 July at 7pm!

Mainly in French but all the scientists can speak English, so it doesn't matter and it's good for your french :-)!

Ashley School in Chamonix!

The Londoners came last year to Chamonix and left us several works of art to inspire us in sustainable development...

They came again this year and in force, with an even stronger desire to share with us. The first day was for individual action, and the second was for groups and societies. The third day was devoted to environmental considerations.

A conference of this type in Chamonix has to include a meeting with the locals. A presentation was therefore made on the morning of the last day at the Plan de l'Aiguille refuge where the children had spent the night: a discussion of possible action in Chamonix; discussions about current projects; a lively and interesting exchange between adults and children...

Then they went up the Aiguille de Midi, later to descend and rejoin their French friends from the Chamonix Ecole du Centre primary school: the creation of Franco-English drawings on sustainable development in Chamonix, enabled them to get the children to work together.

Finally, Janny Coutet and Jean-Louis Verdier, Chamonix town councillors , received the children at the Majestic to thank them and offer them a drink to welcome them.

An exchange was agreed between French and English schools, as well as the communities in order to bring together ideas and projects over the coming years and to put them into action.

Something to watch....
