Chamonix's Mayor approves the little green school's project'project
par otc

Bernard Prud'homme, director of the tourist office, has presented the drawings made by the the little green school' children during their trip in Chamonix to Eric Fournier, the Mayor of the town. Eric Fournier was delighted of the involvement of the children in that project and has congratulated them for their enthusiasm in bringing green solutions for Chamonix.
The message of Peter Baily, organiser of the school trip is clear: a simple drawing can carry a huge message which can then be used as a communication tool to the public and to politics.
Well done children!
The little green school with the big green attitude...

Peter Baily, director of BECAUSE IT'S THERE, organise school trips to inspire youngs on the meaning of well-being and the influence of protecting their environment as as a key to attain well-being.
This is hot topic which is well covered in today's press...however, there are different ways to carry the message accross and we found that Peter Baily's idea to involve children was really relevant! Children are indeed the future actors of tomorrow's behaviours. At the same time, children can influence their own parents to change today's behaviours!
The aim of this trip in Chamonix was to inform, educate and inspire these children to the future of the planet, with a touristic town such as Chamonix as a starting point for reflexion!
Here are some of the ideas and solutions put forward by these children, aged of 10 and 11 years old, who came in Chamonix from the 19th to the 22nd of June:
- Have solar panels on the roofs of refuges, chalets and hotels to power equipment.
- Eat more local food to reduce from lorries, trucks etc, from polluting when they import and export food
- Use as little plastic bags as possible and reuse packaging as much as possible!
All the drawings made by the chilren to illustrate these strong messages will be soon exhibited in the Tourist Office.
